Trial Taxi Deployment of SurvayaCam Posted: 09/11/2006 @ 12:07

SurvayaCam will be deployed on a trial basis by a local taxi company in Batley, West Yorkshire, England. Oakwell Taxis of Batley will have a test unit installed in one of its cars and evaluate the SurvayaCam mobile video surveillance product during the trial period to determine its effectiveness in helping the company combat increasing acts of violence against its taxi drivers.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to test this new video surveillance product, which we hope will enhance our drivers’ safety,” said Shafaat Ali, part owner of Oakwell Taxis. “Acts of violence against our drivers have become an increasing problem, but now, with SurvayaCam, we think we have a solution that can provide the evidence necessary for the prosecution of these perpetrators,” continued Ali.

Mr. Ali of Oakwell Taxis, along with local government officials, security companies and resellers, were in attendance at a demonstration of the SurvayaCam mobile video surveillance product held at the offices of Pixaya (UK) Limited, in Batley, West Yorkshire.

Douglas Halliday, group licensing officer for Kirklees Council, which serves the eleven areas that comprise Kirklees Council, including the Batley area of West Yorkshire, said, ”I thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration of SurvayaCam and fully support any technology that can increase the safety of taxi drivers throughout Kirklees.”

Mike Wood, a Member of Parliament representing the Batley area, who also attended the demonstration, commented, “You can see how cutting-edge this technology is. The company has my full support. This is exactly the type of company we need in Batley.”

“We have been very encouraged by the response to SurvayaCam,” said Stewart McLean, Managing Director of Pixaya (UK) Limited. “Violence against taxi drivers is not just a local problem, but is a worldwide problem, and we believe SurvayaCam can provide that industry with a flexible and cost-effective solution to increase the safety of its drivers. One of the most attractive features of SurvayaCam is its flexibility, which its use by the taxi industry clearly demonstrates. SurvayaCam can be used as a rapid deployment surveillance solution or as a fixed installation surveillance solution and can be configured to work on any wireless LAN or Wi-Fi network, and can be further enhanced to enable the deployment of SurvayaCam transmitters and cameras via 3G connections, such as EVDO and HSDPA. In essence, SurvayaCam is the next generation of mobile video surveillance . . . surveillance without boundaries,” continued McLean.

Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO): World Cup 2006 ‘Avoiding Penalties’ Launch Posted: 21/04/2006 @ 14:02

Pixaya’s Mobile World Cup Guide has been recognised by the FCO as a valuable service for all England fans travelling to Germany this year for the World Cup. In a launch organised by the FCO on the 18th of April at Whitehart Lane, four new incentives were launched aimed at making life stress free for the travelling fans, one of them being Pixaya’s Guide.

There is expected to be over 100,000 England fans travelling to Germany this year to cheer our lads on in the World Cup. Pixaya has created a Mobile World Cup Travel Guide, exclusively for the Fifa World Cup 2006, to keep the fans up-to-date with England World Cup news whilst at the same time providing assistance for those who need a helping hand when in Germany in June.

The guide includes a list of all England’s matches including dates, times, players and venues together with a full guide to the other group’s games. There are 12 guides in total covering each of the cities where the matches will be played. Included in every guide is a comprehensive list of venue directions, hotels, camp sites, hospitals, restaurants, bars, transport, emergency numbers, weather forecasts, live news, attractions and the Foreign Commonwealth Offices’ Know Before You go Campaign Information.

The guide is one of Pixaya’s 100 mobile SOS guides that are designed to help the UK tourist whilst travelling abroad by providing emergency information along with a tourist guide for their chosen area.

David Platt, Ex-England Captain praises Pixaya World Cup Guide Posted: 21/04/2006 @ 13:59

David Platt, along with Foreign Office Minister Lord Triesman, unveiled a raft of measures designed to support England fans, including mobile consular offices.

In a private interview with David Platt, Stewart McLean, the Managing Director of Pixaya, asked David if he could give one piece of constructive advice to the travelling fans this year what would it be. He replied saying “I’ve been lucky enough to travel a lot and in the early years I didn’t realise just how poorly prepared I was regarding information about where I was travelling to, if I had to give one piece of advice it would be to be prepared and read the Pixaya World Cup Guide ‘before’ going and because it’s mobile, keep it with you, it is a worthwhile guide to have”.

Lord Triesman also mentioned Pixaya in his press release before the TV, Radio and Tabloid press. Lord Triesman said: "This year's World Cup looks set to be an exciting one and it's proximity to the UK means England fans could be the biggest single group of visitors. But while we all look forward to high drama on the pitch, it's vital that the Foreign Office does all it can to minimise drama off it. The aim of our 'Avoiding Penalties' campaign is to ensure that every fan is given all the advice and support they need to have an enjoyable, trouble-free tournament."

Launch of Worlds First Mobile Travel Guide Posted: 19/10/2005 @ 11:03

Pixaya is pleased to announce the launch of the SOS Guide.

The 17th of October was a momentous day for the Mobile Industry and Pixaya. The SOS Guide, a travel and emergency information guide, covering over 70 destinations and countries, was officially launched at the Pixaya Headquarters. Various guests from both the Travel and Commercial sector were invited to witness the occasion and the feedback was excellent.

Pixaya's Project Manager was especially pleased after completing months of arduous development and many late nights, “The task was to provide a solution that the user felt comfortable with, whilst at the same time developing a complex and again easy to use backend solution that allows the owner to update their own information”.

So far the uptake has been promising with Travel Agents, Tourist Boards, Technology Networks and various Small to Medium Enterprises taking an interest.

Pixaya’s Content Manager said that the actual writing of the guides had been the most strenuous project he had ever taken on, “finding the data for every emergency service in the world was a daunting task and adding tourism info just added to the mountain of work we set ourselves. However, when we look at the guides now we know it was worth all the effort.”

Pixaya’s next challenge is to load another 230 destinations into the SOS Guide before the end of the year and is now actively looking for information partners involved with Disabled Organisations, Restaurant Guides, Offer Vouchers and Tourism.

West Yorkshire Police to trial SurvayaCam Posted: 17/10/2005 @ 09:17

Pixaya is pleased to announce that The Technical Support Unit (TSU) of the Wakefield division, West Yorkshire Police is to start controlled trials of the company’s latest High Tec solution; SurvayaCam.

Demonstrations to neighbouring TSU’s and other divisions will be held in October with a view to arranging more trials and in due course, sales of SurvayaCam.

Pixaya have had several meetings with the Police over the past twelve months and have always received a positive response towards SurvayaCam and its mobile abilities. Dave Ruddock, a Technical Officer with the TSU in Wakefield remarked that the product could be used in countless situations from covert surveillance and public order situations through to firearm assistance and transmitting video images from crime scenes.

Stewart McLean, the Managing Director of Pixaya (UK) Limited said he was very pleased to have got to this stage with the Wakefield Police. “We have learnt a lot from our meetings with the police at various stages of the development and SurvayaCam wouldn’t be as complete as it is now without their help”.

The TSU will be holding controlled trials throughout November and Pixaya are confident that this will be an excellent launch pad for SurvayaCam.
